Privacy Policy

This policy covers the LXD Evidence Assistant application hosted at this site, operated by Dr. Brenda Bannan / AI4LD, a brand of Lady B Innovation, LLC. It supplements the AI4LD Privacy Policy, which covers ai4ld.com and purchases. The short version: you don’t need an account to use the free trial, we don’t sell your information, your research sessions are visible only to you unless you choose to share one, and we may review session content to improve the tool and for our own research (see “How we use session content” below).
No account required
You can run the free trial session without registering, signing in, or providing your name or email. Full access is unlocked with a purchase or access code, not a login account.
What happens to what you enter
The learning goal, keywords, and context you enter are sent to a third-party AI platform (Anthropic’s Claude) to run the research synthesis and design generation, and to public academic search databases (OpenAlex, CrossRef, ERIC, Semantic Scholar, and arXiv — see About) to find relevant papers. Each is handled under that platform’s own privacy terms. Please treat every input as if it may leave your machine: do not enter personally identifiable information (PII), confidential employee data, or proprietary company information. Use hypothetical, anonymized, or publicly shareable examples. You are responsible for ensuring your inputs comply with your organization’s data policies.
Your session data
Your inputs, and the papers, synthesis, and design outputs generated from them, are stored in our database (Neon, hosted in the United States through our hosting provider, Vercel) so you can return to view or resume a session. A small private cookie in your browser (not tied to your name, email, or an account) controls which sessions you can view or run; it is the only thing that distinguishes your sessions from anyone else’s. If you check “Share this session on the public research feed,” everything you entered and the results become visible to anyone with the link, and, once we have reviewed it, your learning goal, learner role, and experience level may appear in the app’s public feed. Leave it unchecked (the default) to keep a session visible only to you.
How we use session content
Beyond letting you return to your own sessions, we may review session content (what you enter and the research and design output generated from it) to improve the tool and to inform our applied design research cycles observing how learning designers use AI. This may include specific sessions, not only aggregate patterns. We may also use aggregate patterns across sessions (for example, the kinds of design problems people bring) to inform the design of future AI4LD products. Session content is never sold. A session you keep private is not visible to other visitors, regardless of this. It becomes visible to others only if you check “Share this session on the public research feed,” as described above.
How long we keep sessions
We currently keep sessions until you ask us to remove them; there is no fixed deletion period. To ask, email info@ai4ld.com with the link to your session.
Cookies and browser storage
This app sets two cookies in your browser, each lasting one year and neither tied to your name or email: one remembers which sessions are yours, and one records that you have used your free session. It also keeps three small items in your browser’s storage: your access code (if you enter one), a count of your free sessions, and a note that you arrived from the Practitioner Stack, so the right purchase option is shown. The page also loads a checkout script from SamCart, our payment processor, which operates under its own privacy terms (purchases are covered by the AI4LD Privacy Policy linked above). You can clear all of this in your browser settings; if you do, you will no longer be able to open your private sessions from that browser.
Feedback box
After a free session, a feedback box appears below your results. If you use it, the answers you choose, what you write, your email address (only if you choose to add one), and a link to that session are saved in a private Google Sheet and emailed to info@ai4ld.com. We read it ourselves and may use an AI assistant to help summarize themes. We will not quote you or name you publicly without asking you first.
Technical logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Neon) record standard technical logs — such as IP address, browser type, and pages or requests made — to run and secure the service, as most websites do. We use these only for operating, securing, and troubleshooting the tool. To limit free sessions and prevent misuse, we also keep short-lived counters (kept for two days at most) with Upstash, our rate-limiting provider. These store only a scrambled form of your IP address, never the address itself.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time about information connected with your use of the tool, or ask us to remove a session, by emailing info@ai4ld.com, and include the link to the session. See also our Terms of Use.
